Fear brown queers
Fear brown queers. Returning and de-centering the white gaze. An ongoing visual essay is a 2014 zine made by Jacob V Joyce. It features portraits and quotes of artists of colour, mostly QTIPOC, criticising and inquiring into the white and heteronormative privileges in the state of the arts, as well as fragments from poets Krishna Istha & Travis Alabanza. Dazed featured it in their The queer zines that should be on your radar list.
Our copy of the zine is held in Folder 69: Library Catalogue.
Information about the publication can be found at ONCA’s website, and two pages can be read in tumblr, Evan Ifekoya’s and Cecile Emeke’s portraits.
